You don't need to have an IODF file on z/VM. VM will discover all or some of the IO devices that you let it find. You will want to do a little planning around what "things" you want VM to see. Through a little trail and error we have it now that z/VM only sees what it should see and z/OS only see what it should see.

If you are happy with your current IODF management, then there is no need to reinvent the wheel and move the IODF to VM. In fact, you could cause yourself some problems by moving it.
