Try to schedule an outage for a hour and perform:

1. Re-catalog your OSA VSE definitions.

2. Reseed the OSA card by the CE

3. IML to re-sense the equipment.

Hello Everyone,

John Jablonski and I have been talking about his problem (see
below).

804-806 are defined with a NICDEF in the z/VM directory. So I suspect
that this is a VSWITCH(?).

Some of the devices were offline and we have them back on line.

John would like some help and I have never worked with VSWITCHes
and I know that lots of you out there have.

If anyone can give John some assistance, he would appreciate it.

Hello John,

As you know the reason=0035 means that the Startlan failed. When
you lost the OSA card, what was the

Resolution? I would suspect that the OSA adapter is somehow off line to
the VSE system.

REASON = X'0035' Ensure that the OSA Express adapter is connected

(via cable) to the LAN. Ensure that the port is enabled

on the OSA Express CHPID. This has to be done on the

          service element.

If you have z/VM do a Query on the device. If native VSE, let's
check for the devices (all three if you are using

QDIO) and see what the status is.

VSE may have dvcdn the OSA card when you had the problem.

And finally, check all the connections from the OSA to the Network
switch. Loose cables can cause all sorts of problems.

Last night our Network Team replace a switch.

All seem to be okay for a short time and then we lost our OSA card with
the problem below.

Any ideas what is causing this problem.

IBM C.E was out any did tests and said the card checked out.
