I don't run z/OS under z/VM but I found this in the "System z10, System z9, and zSeries Open Systems Adapter-Express Customer's Guide and Reference SA22-7935-11" book.
Decide whether to Specify RMCHINFO You can use the RMCHINFO in the OPTION Directory Control statement to authorize the host virtual machine. Consider the following conditions to determine whether to specify the option: * If you are running on a VM system, specify RMCHINFO. * If you are running as a guest system on z/VM, do not specify RMCHINFO. You see only those devices that are attached to the guest system. Use the z/VM ATTACH command on the guest system. In the user directory of one of the MVS guest, I found rmchinfo in the option line. I tried to find the reason for having this statement in our user directory .
