Two unrelated posts here. First Hurricane Bill. The 5am report shows a
track a slight bit west of yesterday's report, but still significantly out
to sea to miss The3 Chesapeake Bay. It doesn't look good for any friends in
Nova Scotia though. And if I had my boat anywhere from Newport to Cape Cod
I might be worried some (they are on the outer fringe of the forecast area).

One question I have. since I am a photographer I can take the 2 plots and
overlay them on each other to see how the tracks compare. But the scales of
the 2 NOAA Hurricane charts are different, WHY? Is there some practical
reason to change the scale? It takes a bit of Photoshop work to nudge them
back to the same scale to compare the 2 tracks.

Second, I downloaded from iTunes ($4) a copy of Morning Light. What a
delightful and fun sailing movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend
it for a nice hour and half escape into a somewhat predictable plot. In
case you don't know about this Disney film, it revolves around the idea to
take a bunch of 20ish college kids and give them a hot transpac boat (a
TP52) and prepare them to race. I thought it was interesting that these new
racers came mostly from sailing backgrounds and were on sailing teams. They
were not ocean racing sailors though but instead mostly dingy racers. I
found it very entertaining but the wife would not have enjoyed it I bet.
