All things being relative - size/weight between the two boats -  I pulled the
three cyl Universal diesel eng out of my C30
using boom without much of a problem.  Tied main halyard to end of boom as
well as topping lift.  Used seperate block and tackle to lift engine.  Think eng
without starter and tranny was around 300 lbs.  Don't hold me to that.  Was in
water and swung boom with engine over to dock and onto dolly.

I think the guy in the video got it just about right. Using the main halyard to
support the boom at the point where the block and tackle attached seems like
the way to go, especially after seeing the difficulty they had trying to winch
up the halyard. I would be inclined to raise both ends of the boom by a couple
of feet before hand, even if it meant getting a longer line for the block and
tackle. In fact, if you did this on the hard, you might need a much longer line
to get the motor to the ground.
I would also remove the starter and alternator to reduce the weight. (about 40
lbs.)
