I have a funky stirrup hangup, so my opinion may not be valid. ;)

I don't like the nylon because they're so light if you ever lose one
it's hard to get back without reaching don and putting it back. The
aluminum was heavy enough that I could find it without bending over. I
liked the leather covered best.

But, to me stirrups are supposed to be solid with no give. Even if I'm
riding 25 miles, I can't stand anything soft, squishy, or bouncy in my
stirrups. I've tried all manner of shock absorbers, endurance
stirrups, etc... and I have weighted fillis irons (okay, I really have
ornate Kelly Siver tooled irons on their way here, but they're just
irons!) on *my* saddle. I bought my mother a pair of GPG shock
absorbing irons for the saddle her horse uses, and I can ride in them,
but I don't really like them. We had the Trail tech irons for a while,
and the rebound effect with them drove me crazy. No one else could
really feel it, and all the other people (probably 20 people tried
them, we passed them around for a few weekends) bought their own and
replaced their EZ rides.
