That was my thought when I read that.   I swear sometimes, it's seems like
it's all part of the smoke-and-mirrors that some of the importers and
trainers put up around this breed.  If they make it seem complicated enough,
it aids in keeping the monopoly on their clinics, their training, their
shoeing/trimming....  After all, NO ONE else understands all these
COMPLICATED rules.  Maybe that's not the ONLY motivation, but it's the main
one I can see.

There's an old saying that I paraphrase to keep appropriate for a
family-friendly list: " If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then
baffle them with 'baloney'..."   That mentality is used in lots of fields,
not only within the equestrian world - but I certainly think it's alive and
well within the Icelandic breed!

Not that I'm a cynic... ;)
