Hi Laura,

As the owner of 2 Icelandic horses who are chronic laminitics, I'd suggest
you do some research into insulin resistance and laminitis. It is true that
spring grass can be a problem, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. The
real problem is excess carbohydrates in the diet, which can come from many
sources other than spring grass.

My horses have had laminitis the last 4 years in a row, and have never had a
spring grass laminitis. Their bouts are typically in the dead of winter,
when there hasn't been a blade of grass in sight for months. We're trying
some new protocols this year, and I am still hopeful of finding way to
break this awful cycle!

Good luck with your paper!
