As much as I love the Tipperary, I do agree with you Karen that it's a little strange looking.
We were all going out for a training ride (endurance riders) in the rain recently. One gal had a navy Tipperary, a black rain jacket and black water repellent full length chaps. We all thought she looked like she stepped out of Star Wars. Her horse seemed to think so too. He didn't want to stand while she mounted, and he's usually a good boy. Or perhaps he just thought we were all nuts for going out in a driving rain. Nancy
