Well, because the blanket would cover the areas mostly that don't need a blanket. I always understood that the fuzzy, fluffy hair is what keeps a horse warm, and if I put a blanket over him, it will "un-fluff" him and actually make him cold, even with a blanket on. Plus, unless I got a neck rug, his neck would still be exposed. I guess I'll just leave him hairy and ride him first and let him stand around in his cooler until he is dry.
