When I got into TWH back in the 70's that was exactly the way I was taught to ride by a walking horse trainer. I was taught to lean back and if I wanted a left lead canter then I just tapped the left shoulder with my left foot. Thankfully I went from there to dressage riding and learned better and when I cam back to gaited horses I realized a balanced seat worked for any horse. It was a surprise to see a few helmets in that video. -- Laree in NC Doppa & Mura Simon, Sadie and Sam (the "S" gang) "When you're young and you fall off a horse, you may break something.
