>>>> thats a very weird gait he's doing there! I I believe it's the three
legged horse shuffle. :p

I took that picture of Stonewall that I sent from a little video I made of
him. He was trotting. He has a rather odd trot though, because,
frame-by-frame, it often looked foxtrotty. But, you could see that his
diagonal pairs actually land almost perfectly in unison, so it was truly a
trot. I need to watch more freeze-framed videos of three-gaited horses
trotting. I know that Thunder, our Arab, for instance, doesn't trot that
way - no matter where you snap a picture or freeze-frame, the diagonal pairs
are parallel. From watching Stonewall trot in the field and in my round
pen, I would have sworn a few times that he was gaiting when the camera
proved that he was trotting. His gaits would indeed be fascinating for me to
study. Janice says he mostly (totally?) saddle racks or racks with a rider
up. He LOOKS like a racker to me, in his conformation and in his movements.
I can't quite define exactly why I say that though. I don't believe that
I've ever seen an Icelandic move anything like Stonewall at liberty.
