Perhaps the Old Macs / Easy Boots compared to weighted boots and / or shoes
is not a good comparison.

One is for protection of the hoof, worn for the period of time that the
horse is working in terrain that may adversely affect him. It is strictly
for protection and not to alter his way of going.

The weighted boots used on groomed tracks do not serve a functional purpose,
but something cosmetic. How does that cosmetic result affect the horse's
scores? Is his way of going inheritable?

The "intention" of use by the owners is different.

Which horse would you rather breed to? one that got a 9 barefoot, or one
that got a 9 with shoes and weighted boots?
