In the Sierras there are a number of pack stations, my favorite being
Rock Creek. (http://www.rockcreekpackstation.com/). I've been on a
couple of the weeklong trips between Rock Creek and Mammoth, along the
John Muir trail and it was wonderful! And really "out there" in terms
of being in the Wilderness and far from even most hikers.
