The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the Santa Barbara Youth Foundation are accepting applications for a combined head coach/Jr. Program Director. The successful candidate will coach the UCSB Sailing Team, the local high school sailing teams and the Santa Barbara Yacht Club Jr. Sailing Team. Additionally, she/he will be responsible for overseeing the Foundations Summer Program and fleet of 29er, Laser, CFJ, C420, Optimist, US Sabot and J/24 sailboats. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, self-direction, the ability to motivate young sailors and a working knowledge of small boat maintenance and repair. The position also requires frequent weekend and/or evening work, a current drivers license, US Sailing level one or higher certification and first aid & CPR certification. Most of the programs are racing-related and the successful candidate will have demonstrated success competing in and/or coaching small boats at the regional, national and/or international levels.
