It's time to start thinking about accommodations for the 2008 Spring Nationals
in Newport, RI. The dates of Nationals are as follows:
May 26-28, ICSA Women's National Championship
May 29, ICSA Annual Meeting and Afterguard Regatta
May 30-June 1,ICSA/APS Team Race National Championship
June 2-4, ICSA/Gill Dinghy National Championship
This is the time of year when Newport starts to get crowded, especially
Memorial Day weekend. We have put together a few different options, with very
good prices for our events. For those of you on a tight budget, who want the
closing housing to the New York Yacht Club, then you can book rooms at Salve
Regina University. They are offering nice dorm room housing on campus and they
have set aside a large number of rooms. The phone number is 1-866-841-2348 and
rooms are available for $90 per night. Rooms have three beds. Salve is
approximately two miles from the venue.
We also put together two standard hotel options. The brand new Marriott
Residence Inn Newport/Middletown is offering a great rate and is located about
15 minutes from the New York Yacht Club. In addition to receiving a suite, the
sailors will receive a free hot full breakfast, social hour Mon. - Thur (light
dinner fare), complimentary wireless high-speed Internet service, free use of
the business center, and of course, no charge for parking. They are offering
three different types of suites which include fully equipped kitchens and allow
flexibility for sleeping arrangements. They are offering the Intercollegiate
Women's, Team Race, and Dinghy National Championships the following rates:

Two Bedroom Suites $255 weekday, $339 weekend

The rates are per night, per room, plus 13% tax. They will hold 30 rooms for
the event. Individual teams will be able to call the hotel directly to secure
their rooms. They will hold the rooms until May 4th, 2008. At that point,
they will release any of the remaining rooms back to the general public.

The third option is the Best Western Mainstay, located just off the Newport
Bridge (by the rotary). It is less than 10 minutes from the venue. They are
holding 40 rooms for us at these rates.
Sunday - Thursday $79.20 + tax
Friday - Saturday $143.10 + tax
Mainstay will hold these rooms until April 20, after that they will release
them. There is no breakfast included with the price, but there is a restaurant
on premises. The number is 401-849-9880.

Houses can be rented and numerous other hotel options are out there as well.
