It was about the wackiest day of sailing one could imagine on the Severn River off the Naval Academy today. Breeze came from all directions with little rhyme or reason, shut off, filled in, spun a 360 or two etc... Rain, fog, sunshine, even some lightning and thunder....there was something for everyone.
The race committee persevered and managed to complete three races for the fleet of nine teams sailing aboard Navy's Colgate 26s. At the end of the day, Coast Guard's excellent form was rewarded with a 1, 3, 1 to claim the top spot on the leader board. Loyola College is 2 points back in 2nd with a 3, 2, 2 while Navy is another 2 points back in 3rd with a 2, 1, 6. Coast Guard 1,3,1 5 Loyola 3,2,2 7 Navy 2,1,6 9 Duke 4,4,3 11 St. Mary's 5,6,5 16 Cornell 6,8,4 18 Virginia 9,5,7 21 Penn State 8,7,8 23 Army 7,9,9 25 The fun continues tomorrow! Jahn Jahn S.
