Notice of Race 62 nd Annual Timme Angsten Memorial Regatta November 28, 29 and 30, 2008 Chicago Yacht Club, Monroe Station www.chicagoyachtclub.org 1. RULES The regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS); the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (US SAILING); and the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Procedural Rules for Intercollegiate Sailing Competition, (Fall 2005 - Spring 2008 as of 8/07), and the 2006 Collegiate Dinghy Class Rules, except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions. 2. ALTERATIONS of the RACING RULES The racing rules will be modified in accordance with the ICSA Procedural Rules and RRS 86.1, as indicated in the Sailing Instructions. 3. ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY 3.1 Eligibility for colleges and individuals will be as required by ICSA and outlined in the ICSA Procedural Rules. 3.2 The defending champion is invited. The MCSA is invited to enter eight teams. In addition, SAISA, MAISA, NEISA, SEISA, NWICYRA NWICSA and PCIYRA PCCSC are each invited to send one team. CYC will work through ICSA to select additional teams for a total of 18 teams. Schools wishing to be considered for entry should contact the ICSA Intersectional Regatta Coordinator or the Regatta Chairman. 4. FEES and REQUIREMENTS 4.1 The meal fee for the regatta is $220.00 per team and includes four meal packages (2 breakfasts, 3 lunches). Additional meal packages are available to competitors and coaches for $55.00 each, or meal tickets can be purchased separately. Receipts will be issued as requested. 4.2 Each team is required to bring enough clothing and equipment for four people to be properly attired for the conditions for sailing at one time, including four US Coast Guard approved (Type 3) Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs). The PFDs must be available for inspection at registration. Drysuits are recommended. 5. SCHEDULE of EVENTS 5.1 Registration will take place Friday, November 28, 2008, at 1130 – 1230 CST. 5.2 The skippers meeting will be held at 1230 CST on Friday, November 28, 2008. The skippers meeting will be held at 0830 CST on Saturday and Sunday. Racing will begin immediately following the skippers meeting. 5.3 No race will be started after sunset on any day and no A Division race will be started after 1430 CST on Sunday. Any change in the schedule of races will be posted by 1100AM CST Friday November 3028. 5.4 A round robin will be sailed, with each school sailing each boat twice. Each division of each school will sail the same boat for two races in a row, and then the other division will race the next boat in the rotation. Racing will continue until the round robin is complete, or the deadlines are reached, whichever occurs first. 5.5 An informal team race between Chicago Yacht Club members and an all-star college team may be held at the end of a day’s racing. 6. REGISTRATION Preregistration packages will be sent by e-mail, and should be returned immediately. 7. HOUSING Housing information will be provided upon receipt of preregistration package. 8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. 9. VENUE The venue will be the Chicago Yacht Club – Monroe Street Station and the racing area will be the Monroe Harbor. 910. SCORING and ALTERNATIVE PENALTIES Scoring and alternative penalties will be as prescribed by ICSA Procedural Rules. 1011. SUPPORT BOATS Support, Race Committee and safety boats will be provided by CYC. Additional boats are not allowed. Spectators may view the races from the clubhouse. 1112. COMPETETOR COMPETITOR RESTRICTION Competitors may not compete in CYC Frostbiting in 420s for two weeks prior to the Angstens. 1213. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded on Sunday, November 30, 2008, shortly after the day's racing. Attendance is mandatoryrequired. Depending on weather, this may not be over until 1700, so plan accordingly. 12.1 The Timme Angsten Regatta Bowl is awarded to the winning team. This perpetual trophy is maintained by CYC and will remain at CYC. 12.2 Prizes will be awarded to each member of the teams placing first, second and third in the regatta. Prizes will also be awarded to the first, second and third place teams in each division. 12.3 The Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association (MCSA) awards a permanent trophy to the best placing MCSA school. 12.4 A brass spittoon is traditionally awarded to the victors of an informal team race between Chicago Yacht Club members and an all-star college team.
