FINAL RESULTS
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: In the morning, the forecasted Northerly battling with the
incoming Southerly seabreeze produced several course shifts, two
abondonded races, and only one race in A Division. Finally, after a
quick lunch break, the breeze settled in from the Southwest at 8-12
knots and six more A and seven B races were sailed. With an inbound
submarine approaching, the sailors were sent in to JRock to switch
fleets with the hope of sailing a few more races in the late afternoon.
The sub passing turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the wind
completely died and racing was called for the day at 4:30. Courses
were course 4's, course 5's and windward-leewards for the last race
in each division. Two protests were filed which resulted in two DSQs.
Thanks to Mike O'Connor, John Storck, and Danny Rabin for hearing
protests. Tomorrow A Division will be in FJs and B Division will be
in 420s. Huge thanks to the Coast Guard cadets and Director of Sailing
Doug Clark for running 14 great races in trying conditions.
Sunday: Racing got underway right on time in a Northerly ranging from
5-12 knots with strong current going with the wind. Five races in
each division were sailed before the breeze shut off. In the afternoon
the seabreeze came in at 10-16 knots from the South to Southeast and
four more races per division were completed. Courses all day were
windward-leewards with offsets and gates. One protest was filed and
disallowed. One request for breakdown was granted. Thanks to Dave
Seigal and Matty Cohen for hearing protests. Also many thanks to the
Coast Guard cadets for running fantastic races all weekend. Congrats
to Yale for winning this year's Emily Wick/Sloop Shrew Promotional.
Coast Guard is looking forward to hosting this event next year as an
intersectional.
