All wind forecasts for today provided little hope for any racing on the
final day of the Kennedy Cup in Annapolis. But after the big breeze of
yesterday, many crews were grateful to see the flags hanging lifelessly at
the Navy Sailing Robert Crown Center.

Ever the optimist, PRO Bruce Bingman compelled the fleet to get underway
though and all were rewarded with a light but reasonably steady easterly
breeze.

Race 9 of the series started on time with Coast Guard winning the pin and
going on to convincingly win the race as well. Series leader Cal Maritime
had a tough race finishing 7th but was still ahead of Navy who had been
lying second. Cornell returned to top form finishing second while Mass
Maritime came third, their third top 3 score of the series.

The Race Committee started a 10th race as the last gasps of breeze filtered
across the racecourse. But the 30 minute leg time limit expired with the
lead boats barely halfway up the first beat sealing the overall victory for
Cal Maritime. Coast Guard finished second, 6 points back while Navy ended
up third.

Back ashore we were honored to have new US Sailing President Gary Jobson on
hand to present trophies and regale the crews with Kennedy Cup experiences
from his own college sailing days.

A hearty congratulations to ICSA Big Boat National Champions Cal Maritime
whose team was led by skipper Cole Davis and included Matt Van Rensellaer,
Sebastian Laleau, Tom Steele, Kyle Vanderspeck, Evan Wanamaker, Robert
Proulx and John Gray who by virtue of their win earned the right to
represent the United States at the 2010 Student Yachting World Cup in France
next Fall!

event including PRO Bruce Bingman and his RC gang which included Jan
Richardson, Bill Museler, Frieda Wildey, Buck Downes, Leigh Doptis, Fran
Wright, Dick Libby and Taran Teague.

Chief Judge was Ric Crabbe who was assisted by fellow jurors Dan Trammell
and Sandy Grosvenor.

Lunsford, Dick Morin, Mike Brownlee, Henry Morgan, Bill Maclay, Harry
Gamber, George Dewhirst, Maureen Mills and Rick Crow.
