This morning dawned right on forecast with a high pressure system parked over the top of Annapolis and a glossy Bay surface greeting the competitors as they motored out to the start area.
Kennedy Cup PRO Taran Teague and her Race Committee did every wind dance they could think of and were finally rewarded with a very light southeasterly allowing one race to be completed in the alloted time window. Navy finally found their stride winning the race by inches over Cal Maritime. But University of Rhode Island sailed conservatively posting a 3rd to take the 2006 Kennedy Cup title and in the process earned the right to represent the United States in next year's Student Yachting World Cup in France. A hug thanks from Navy Sailing to PRO Taran Teague and her RC personnel, Chief Judge Mark Murphy and his jury and Jan Richardson, Navy's behind the scene volunteer who pulled it all together. Final Results: 1. University of Rhode Island 2,1,1,4,3 11 2. California Maritime 6,3,2,1,2 14 3. St. Mary's 3,2,4,3,6 18 4. Washington College 5,5,3,2,5 20 5. Kings Point 1,4,6,6,7 24 6.
