28th Professor Steadman Hood Trophy
Tufts University
Upper Mystic Lake, Medford, MA
September 24-25, 2011

If Saturday was light and shifty, Sunday was worse. A nearly windless week
ended with 0-4 knots of wind on Mystic Lake; first from the North and then from
the East. Race 4B was run late morning to complete the set from Saturday.
Many attempts to run 5A resulted in one race with fair wind for the first half
of the race but ended in wind of only one knot. A subsequent B race was never
attempted before the 3pm cut-off.

Harvard won the regatta with consistent finishes in B and spectacular finishes
in A. Tufts rallied to close the gap but fell short on races. Both Yale and
Navy sent strong teams and despite being somewhat out of their element (Larks
on a nearly calm lake), both teams sailed well for third and fourth. MIT found
the last puff that counted to win the finale and pull up to 6th.

Margaret Rew, Tufts'11 ran the port-line boat as several undergrads assisted
both on the water and ashore.
