Tufts University won the White Trophy and the NEISA Match Race Championships. Roger Williams was second and will join Tufts at the ICSA Match Race Nationals in San Francisco in November.
The quarter finals began at about noon in light SE wind that built to just under eight knots. Tufts won their quarter final 2-0 over Mass Maritime to quickly advance to the semi finals. Each of the other quarter finals came down to a winner-take-all race, with Connecticut College beating Boston College 2-1, Maine Maritime over Brown 2-1, and Roger Williams beating Yale 2-1. Tufts cruised through their semi final matches, beating Maine Maritime 2-0. Roger Williams and Connecticut College sailed three close races, with Roger Williams winning the final and deciding race near the finish line to win the semi final 2-1. The finals between Tufts and Roger Williams could not be sailed within the time limit, so #1 seed Tufts won the regatta. Tufts was impressive, losing just one race of the eleven they sailed.
