Hello College Sailing, I hope everyone is enjoying the spring season so far. Here are a few things I want to share with you:
First US Sailing is showing great support for College Sailing by bringing back the popular Chalk Talk Series. The first Chalk Talk premiers next Thursday, March 15. If you followed the Chalk Talk series in the past, you will love the hilarious "preview" that Chris Love put together. Find the link on the ICSA Facebook page, www.facebook.com/collegesailing. US Sailing is making a big commitment to ICSA in sponsoring the Chalk Talk series. (Once you watch the promo video, you will see that Chris has gone "big-time" and left the hotdog suit behind.) US Sailing is counting on the support of college sailors. Specifically, ICSA has promised that we will deliver 500 new college memberships <http://racing.ussailing.org/College/College_Membership_Benefits.htm> to US Sailing for this coverage to continue. The college membership is only $95 for a 4 year, full, membership with awesome benefits. If you haven't seen US Sailing's College webpage, check it out. http://racing.ussailing.org/College.htm. There is great college sailing centered content, links, and information about the popular Gill drysuit <http://www.gillna.com/dinghy/dinghy_4802_FZDRY.php> video contest. US Sailing also wants to bring back the College Sailor of the Week. This honoree shall possess one or more of the following characteristics: A. Outstanding individual competitive performance at an intersectional, major conference regatta, or national championship B. Significant contribution by an individual resulting, in a team's overall success at an ICSA competition C. Significant display of leadership D. Significant display of sportsmanship E. Other characteristic, attribute, or achievement for which timely national recognition will benefit the Intercollegiate Sailing Association as a whole Please make you nominations here: http://www.collegesailing.org/docs/sownomination.asp. Have a great weekend on the water!
