It was a long day in Annapolis for the first day of the 2013 Truxtun Umsted
Regatta.  Fortunately, the rainy forecast for the day proved incorrect, but
unfortunately so did the wind forecast for 5-10 all day.  PRO Kyle Assad
and his team of Midshipmen brought the fleet out into the river on three
different occasions throughout the day, starting and abandoning four races
 as the wind never filled in for long enough to get anything done.  After a
long day of waiting, the volunteers of the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron
fired up the grill and treated the competitors to a complimentary cookout,
which lifted spirits and also brought the breeze, which began to fill at 5
PM from the north.  The Race Committee quickly set a trapezoid course in
Annapolis Harbor and four races were completed per division before the sun
set.  Five protests and redress requests were filed that will be heard
beginning at 0845 tomorrow.  Brown leads after day 1 and scores can be
