I'd like to add my voice to this. One of the nice things about Idrisi has
been that the simple file formats and their consistency across previous
versions have encouraged many freeware and commercial utilities to be
provided for Idrisi users.

Is anyone else upset that IDRISI adopted the new image and vector file
formats without warning anybody, or providing a means for IDRISI32 to read
the older file formats directly? The File Conversion routine (which creates
a copy of the old files in the new format) is a pain when you have large
files residing on disks with limited free space, and of course any
custom-built programs or commercial programs that use IDRISI files must be
rewritten to handle the new formats. I've sent a message to tech support
asking them to put in the direct read capability, which would at least
allow a more graceful transition. If you feel the same way I do, please let
them know!
