Mine is similarly muddled, but I wonder...is it appropriate to reference a recent (and presumably temporary) experiment alongside documenting the current state of the art? Particularly when email-arch is unlikely to be updated for another five years?
My inclination would be to leave the text as is, perhaps adding that there's experimentation underway.
