Others have reported similar problems today and it had to do with the version number of python-igraph; I had to set the version number to 0.7.1-1 to fix an earlier problem with the 0.7.1 release (because PyPI did not let me overwrite the tarball for 0.7.1), but this meant that when you run setup.py and it is not able to find the locally installed version of the C core of igraph, it starts to look for version 0.7.1-1 of the C core as well and not version 0.7.1. I have fixed this and released 0.7.1-2 so the easiest would be to try again with "pip install python-igraph" and see whether it works with the new version. If it still fails, please save the output of "pip install python-igraph" to a file and send that file to my private email address so I can check what's going on.
