Some more points
*A* Put a local Linux user group (OCPG-IITP) - Open Culture Promotion Group
or simple "LUG at IITP"
*B* use institute wise proxy server and do not include internal server in
proxy quota
*C* as Nalin and Gajendra suggest , have common LAN and put up repo. I can
help to put up repo in IITP
*D* I suggest to have "*Institute wise Technical Cell" *(not just owned by
CS dept but institue wise), A Technical Cell can have follwoing things
***** A worskhop hall where you can organise student driven workshop and
barcamps
***** A Library room with latest books on technology and Linux and Open
Source. Current libraries do not contains latest tech books. for a geek,
books and preceedings and journals of 1800 to 2009 are not useful.
****** this technical cell can be useful for many other technical
activities.,...,,.,.
*E* The very begining you can part of http://nptel.iitm.ac.in/ but i do not
suggest to do so, because NPTIL do no relese its video under creative
commons or reusable license. I suggest to put your classroom video on your
own website and put a CC-SA or CC-By-SA license on it. Any Please use .ogg
video format so that that it can be view without FLASH using firefox 3.5+
(If possible encourage eduvid)
*F* Use Open source license your Projects and Assignment. if project is
small like 1 page coding,, use MIT., If its is big -- use GPLv3
*G* Give webspace to students and professor on your website so that they can
put their biodata and work on website !! And do not
delete email and webspace after they passout from institute !!
