so far as i know sir,i was told that my machine is a 32 bit machine and i had a 32 bit windows installed when i purchased this machine.(dell studio 15 laptop).and on this i have installed 64 bit ubuntu.i had no idea that it is 64 bit till i got to know that flash player wont install on this.

Such things happen a lot. Even my desktop dealer (assembled) told me that my box (Intel Dual Core E2180) was 32bit unless I stumbled across an article to find out if processor supports 64 bit: grep lm /proc/cpuinfo.
