It is not an attempt to scoff at their wisdom or competence. We are all aware of and proud of their competence and the many wonderful things they have done. But then, the idea of building a OS from scratch in 2010 CE is very difficult to digest. This is not just a one time effort. It needs long term maintenance and support. Some years ago DOD of US took up Ada. Except for some individuals and academicians, Ada is nowhere in the horizon. Our own RMS is still to come up with his HURD. The OS guru, Andrew Tanenbaum has still not put out his OS. The story goes on .... For all we know, the news may just be the fantasy of some journalist, who has not understood what he is talking about. In any case, the folks at DRDO know what they are doing.
