would not be able to attend drupal7 release event (coz of my exams)
but it would be my pleasure to contribute to fossevents.in . Since
fossevents.in was not ready in the meantime we started with a
temporary fossevents page( http://iftytech.com/node/3 ) so that people
outside the community don't miss it at all. But its not the solution
!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward for a permanent solution>>> fossevents.in which should
be attractive + simple. Here m sharing some ideas please give your
feedback

1) For the home page
we can have a jquery slider (header) for the upcoming events just
like this http://eventful.com/losangeles/events (please avoid the
content :P) n i can do this job regularly as to update the slider and
removing the past events from the slider. It should be catchy and
attractive( for the people outside the community). The slider should
show events in according to their dates( eg: 15-Jan-2011 then
10-Jan-2011 then 2-Jan-2011.......).

in the content of the page we can have a brief description of FOSS ,
motive behind FOSS Events and building community.

2) About Us page(optional)
we can have this page where we can have a brief description about
various foss communities in our country from where we get these event
news and all. This can solve dispute among various foss communities
which is quite common these days :P

3) Upcoming Events page
We can have a calender module in the right slidebar just like in
http://fossevents.org
In the left slidebar we can have our twitter or some other feeds.

in the main body content we can have a simple top down list of the
upcoming events which should have links to the event sites and if the
event is not having any site or page then(specially the small school
and college events) ???
And we should mention the events as open event or closed events(such
FOSS events which are allowed for the students of that college only.)

4) Gallery/Past events/ Coverage page
this page can also have the top down list of the past events and their
coverage via link to photos and blogs by the attendies. This will
bring all communities together to share their experiences.

5) Contact us page
A simple contact page with contact form so that people can share the
upcoming events link as well as their photos and blog links after any
event.

@Kinshuk ya thats a good idea to publish the feeds of fossevents.in on
fossevents.org and to have no registration as it should look simpler
to a new user.

The main idea behind my this layout is to attract the people outside
the communities to these events. As far my personal experience i found
that people outside the communities never get the news of such events
and sometimes if they get then they get are not able to get the main
agenda of such events.

The most important thing fossevents.in can't do these all jobs just
being as a website it should be a social media for FOSS events in
India via various social networking channels.

Cheers..........
