Hi people,

I'd like to know how to make an ad hoc wireless network in Ubuntu 10.10, so
that I can share the internet connection with my roommate. I need to do this
because there is only one Ethernet port in my room, and it's annoying to be
only able to use the net one person at a time.

I need to log into a http proxy server to connect to the Internet because
IITD provides internet access only over it.

I have tried to connect using the wireless network option which is built
into NetworkManager, but somehow, the other person is never able to log into
the network even if the authentication password matches exactly. So, I'd
appreciate some specific tips on settings to be tweaked (security protocols
etc.), software to be installed, or even good tutorials to read (I haven't
been able to find them) etc. so that I can connect through an ad hoc
network.

Thanks,
Mihir.
