If the other person is on Windows then he won't be able to connect to your
wireless because of some encryption issues. However, sometimes a ubuntu
system is able to connect to a windows wireless network so you could try
that. If he is on ubuntu also, it might be a problem about his or your
wireless drivers. Broadcoam 802.11 is the hardware in some laptops so you
could try googling about that in this case.
