Ken, While I personally agree that plain text e-mail is the way to go, I don't think it is ever right to impose what you think is "right" on other people. Everyone is different and has different needs. The answer to Jason's request should be something along the lines of:
IlohaMail does not currently support this. In the future we would like IlohaMail to be able to support any user's needs through a simple plugin interface. Even with the current version of IlohaMail it would not be too terribly hard to support a WYSIWYG interface. If you want to submit a patch we'd be happy to review it. Forcing things down people's throats will only lower IlohaMail's user base.
