With Grub legacy you can run 10 OS on 1 machine. Grub 2 is still inbred for instance if you install Ubuntu on top of windows, suse, mandriva, the grub 2 will delete other linux entries and show ubuntu and windows only. I prefer chain loader over grub 2.
