Launch Synaptic.
Select "Settings->Repositories" from the menus.
Select the "Other Software" tab.
If you already have any "CD" repositories listed, you might want to
"remove" them now to reduce the confusion.
Select "Add CD-ROM".
You should get a dialog asking you to mount the CD. DO NOT mount the
ISO before you reach this step because
Synaptic has a quirk which will cause it to dismount the image if it
is already mounted.
Launch GMOUNT-ISO.
Point it at the ISO that you have..
select "cdrom0" as the mount point.
Synaptic only supports cdrom0, so if you have a real CD or DVD mounted
you'll need to dismount it before mounting the ISO so that cdrom0 is
not in use.
Select "Mount". The ISO should now be mounted and appear on the
desktop as "cdrom".
