+1  especially when one is comfortable with a particular distribution
, its not helpful to switch to another environment which might not be
as comfortable as other distribution .

Try Ubuntu alternate installer available at
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/alternative-download
And as prakreet has suggested , please stick to Ubuntu LTS which is
currently 10.04 and you won't be missing much on new stuff ,most
importantly you can get support for a long time ;)
