Did you type ./firefox ? If you simply type firefox, it will open the
one installed in the system. i suggest that you wait till your
distribution to packages it for you. It shouldn;t take very long. If
you are using Ubuntu, mozilla has already packaged it for you. How to
get it has been explained earlier in the thread. If you use Arch
linux, its already in the official repo. Other distros will be
packaging it soon.
