I am not a fan of the name but that's a weak argument IMO http://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html There is a reason FSF calls the combination GNU/Linux rather than GNU Linux. My argument is there is no GNU/Linux operating system either. We have distributions which are essentially Linux based operating systems that share source code and they have their own names.
