most get confused with freeware and free software.

Freeware- Software's which are free of cost, it might be proprietary [ eg:Adobe Reader, Flash Player etc ], source code will not be available.

Free software - Free means freedom to learn, modify, redistribute - which means all free software comes with the source code. when you modify a free software and distribute, it should also be free.

Open source - These software need not be free of cost but it comes with the source code.

Hope you are clear.....

Thanks

Free Software means not necessarily to be an open source product.

from vijay
Open Source software may not necessarily be Free Software.

the sourcecode of free and opensource software are open to the world or not.

this is now am having in my mind.
free software-source code may not be open.
opensource-source code available.

i think if you give points about both in the above manner it will be clear
