hi, the minutes which would be posted would aim at doing the following: 1. enlist events pointwise. 2. mention names of "speakers" who "spoke" (read fired!! ;) 3. in order of occurence 4. be objective
-------------------------------------- 2:50: robins entered at 2:50, so before that linus torvalds might have come, but he has not mentioned it. 3~3:30: there was an ensuing "heated" debate about whether there should be proprietary software in the ilugd general agenda. that discussion went on primarily between alok and raj which was slightly supported by Lingam and robins. 3:45~: LinuxLingam began his presentation about Amitabh Trehan (Gawd i heard it 37 times to never forget trehan's name ever ;) which in one way is good) who along with Linuxlingam and sumit from this side of india helped in a large mathematics symposium at Pune wherein Amitabh had convinced the gathering academia from all over the country to take a try at Linux and Tex (spelt correctly?) on linux. 4~: Also ensued LinuxLingam's powerful support towards amitabh's commendable effort for the event, and also went to invite all of the ilugd group members to take such an effort. 4:15~: Robins stood up with his, and i quote kishore..."Interesting project!!" which had nothing much interesting in it, to start with. This was about a set of scripts which allow to download specific parts of the linux kernel according to the need of the client/user. the website akul.sourceforge.net is not yet ready, and he said that it'd be up soon. 4:30~: Raj and Alok left together. There were rumours about they having secretly agreed to continue the "discussion" on the way back home. we all just pray that the car is ok. 4:45~: Poor Robins volunteered to take on the minutes baton from now on, unless ofcourse he is absent for a meet (which shouldnt be a problem). Others are requested to "continue" the minutes story now that it has started. 4:50~: Kishore agreed with LinuxLingam that there should now be a good drive towards the new users considering that there were a large number of newbies joining every month. Therefore there was a concensus that a theme would be selected by the fourth wednesday of every month and then various levels of discussions could be taken up, especially for new comers. 5:00~: A hen in NewHockingShire-ville laid 43 eggs at one go. Personal Note: Please try to come for such meetings. They are fun, informative and also that it is centrally located (if you have been to Nizamuddin, Jung Pura, Lodhi Road, or Nehru Stadium, chances are you have been less than a kilometer from this venue.) Its on a sunday, timing is after lunch and quite a calm and fantastic place to roam around after the meet anyways! signing out. robins. p.s.1: for those who wish to talk about robins playing the guitar please contact him at [EMAIL PROTECTED] p.s.2: for those who wish to talk about proprietary software please contact him at [EMAIL PROTECTED] p.s.3: for any other address please reply to this email... p.s.4: and Mary, i just hope you are successful in making that make dep idea work. p.s.5: would try to make the next meeting minutes much much smaller... _______________________________________________ ilugd mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd
