This is a Compaq EVO D500 machine running RedHat 9.0 and ifconfig gives me output as follows :
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:08:02:4F:D4:14 inet addr:192.168.131.36 Bcast:192.168.131.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:2664554 errors:17776 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:17776 TX packets:2420985 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:2006514325 (1913.5 Mb) TX bytes:501679912 (478.4 Mb) --------------- kernel : 2.4.20-19.9 NIC : 02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corp. 82801BA/BAM/CA/CAM Ethernet Controller (rev 03) This machine is connected to a Cisco (?) switch. I have changed the port on the switch on which it is connected without any effect. The machine has been rebooted a couple of times with no luck. Any thoughts / opinions would be highly appreciated. It doesnt help that my network engineer is adamant that the driver is faulty - anyone has any experience with this umm faulty driver in the kernel ?
