there are plans to convert Yahoo! Messenger IM Client for linux from gtk 1.x to a complete KDE App based on qt.
more info on the following link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ymessenger/message/2230
sad news for me, who runs a kde-free desktop :-( hope gaim manages to sort out the Yahoo! related problems and releases v0.76 soon. i made an effort to give gaim cvs a try but was not able to download it completely.
Good news for us KDE folks. ;)
Anyway, thanks for the link .. i jumped around and found this http://public.yahoo.com/~mmk/
An interesting FAQ there:
Q16: I don't like the font rendering, is there an alternative?
Yahoo messenger will work with newer and better rendering versions of gtkhtml. In order to switch to these, please use ymessenger.local to start the client. However, please note that this version of the client will more unstable and has been known to crash more frequently.
Didnt make much difference on my desktop (RHL9) though.
