heheheh did i forget to mention VLC is a bit*h to install?
anyways, before you install, you must read the online documentation on
what you need. how to setup your system. this because VLC supports a
helluva lot of formats, a helluva lot of codecs, and does some
eye-poppinbg stuff to boot. plus, the name is misleading. it can also
stream a given input as unicast, multicast, etc.

it took me a nice whole weekend to get it going. but man! does it rock?!

if you wanna get started instantly, and don't wanna waste more than 50
minutes doing this. there is a way.
:)

get hold of the pcqlinux2004 distro, which is based on fedora core1 with
some enhancements. it comes with VLC read to rock-and-roll. just create
a fresh partition on your pc, and install this. takes 50 minutes of
painless, smooth sailing, and you have VLC as well as cinellera and a
whole lot of other goodies.

:-)
