1. The copies are definitely illegal. There are plenty of sites around the 
world which will provide you such "bookz". Just search for the term bookz and 
you will get plenty of such stuff.

2. Different books have different copyrights and other applicable 
restrictions. The Linux Kernel Driver was published under FDL and its source 
is ths available. This doesnt mean that all books of oreilly are free to 
publish on the web.

3. Providing links to such copies is similar to providing links to "illegally 
copied" software in various warez caches. Or similar to provide links to free 
illegally copied mp3s. You can now make out the analogy, cant you? If you 
think it is not ok to post links to illegal mp3s, but ok to post links to 
such books .. stop .. and think again.

4. Providing such links to the list is similar to condoning such activities 
and bring bad reputation to the list. So please desist.

Linux is not just about free software, it is also about rights to software 
among other things. IF you want others to respect licences like GPL, then be 
prepared to respect other licences, proprietary or not.
