Query 1> How do i convert my ex2 fs-type to ext3 fs-type. What are the prospects of "loosing my data".
You can use mkfs.ext3 (part of the e2fsprogs package) for this. Quite easy to use `mkfs.ext3 /dev/partition_name ` .
The prospects of losing your data is 100%. make a backup before proceeding
