So... does /dev/cdrom point to wherever your CD-ROM drive is? If not,
make it a symbolic link pointing to the appropriate block device.
(See ln(1): "ln -sf /dev/cdrom ...")
$ ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2004-11-18 20:44 /dev/cdrom -> hde
