Hi all,

For all those who are interested in Maemo, a GTK+ toolkit for Nokia
770, have a look @ the forwarded message.

BTW, I have downloaded the Maemo Live 0.4a version, so if anyone needs
it, gimme a buzz.

Hi folks,

I am proudly presenting the Maemo Live-CD 0.5a (still alpha). I included
and configured OpenSSH, Samba and Xvnc. This means you can now take pop
the CD in that old computer (>500MHz, 256MB RAM), connect to it from
your Windows/Mac/Linux/Solaris desktop and start developing with your
favourite tools.

Take a look at this feature:

And download the ISO file:

http://cdprojekte.schlenker-webdesign.de:8080/Public/Maemo_Live/0.5a/

1. Boot the Maemo Live-CD. If you do not need the GUI, edit the "kernel"
line in grub and add "3" to boot to runlevel 3.

2. Use your favourite SSH-Client to log in to the Maemo box. Login is
"knoppix", password is "maemo".

3. Set some environment variables:

    export DISPLAY=localhost:3.0
    export LANGUAGE=en_GB

4. Start the Maemo GUI

    /scratchbox/login
    af-sb-init.sh start

5. Use your favourite VNC-Viewer to connect to Xvnc, do not forget to
connect to "ip-address:3", since Xvnc is running on display 3.

6. A Samba server provides access to /home, /tmp and /scratchbox.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS LIVE CD IN A SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENT! Anyone can
log in and wreck havoc in your network!

Besides these changes I installed Plucker Desktop and some eBooks.
Please test these features (I did not test them yet).

I will write some more comprehensive documentation as soon as the wiki
is ready.

Regards,
Mattias
