For the information of the mildly curious, I have installed Ubuntu 8.04
on an Asus EeePC 701 successfully. It even has compiz-fusion running quite well!
For those who came in late, the eeepc is this -->:

a) Everything is on a 4G SSD
b) my data is on an external 120G Hard Disk
c) Wi-Fi works like a charm
d) Skype Video works with integrated webcam
e) At 900gm, my shoulder thanks me every day!
f) Got it for 17k at Nehru Place.
I am getting used to the tiny screen and keyboard :)
